When detoxing my house of unnecessary chemicals and fragrances one of the first products to be eliminated was carpet refreshers. oh, man how I used to love sprinkling this stuff all over everything!

With kids, pets and just plain life, my house can gather up interesting smells pretty quickly. I'm so happy to now have a more natural non-toxic way to clean and deodorize my carpet and upholstery.

This simple DIY Carpet Refresher is simple to make and works fast to rid my house of yucky smells. It leaves the whole house smelling clean and fresh smelling.

With just two ingredients this is a quick and cheap alternative to the store-bought versions.

To make this Carpet freshener recipe all you need is-

Glass bowl

Baking Soda

Essential Oils

Metal Spoon

Mason Jar

 

 

DIY Carpet Freshener Recipe

 

 

How to make DIY Carpet Freshener

1. Grab a Metal or Glass bowl and add 2 cups of Baking Soda to the bowl.

2. Pick your favorite Essential Oils and add up to 40 drops to the baking soda and stir.

3. Add the mix of Essential oils and baking soda to a glass mason jar.

4. Poke holes to the top of the mason jar so you can sprinkle out the Baking Soda Mixture

 

This is simple to make but I thought it would be fun to also include this short video I posted on the By Oily Design Facebook group page.

The video gives step by step instructions on how I mix the DIY Carpet Freshener, how I sprinkle it on my carpet and what oils I like to use.
